BEGINNING JUNE 1st, FREE CHILDCARE FOR 9:00A.M. CLASSES ON MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, & THURSDAY
BEGINNERS YOGA (conditioning)
Designed by Shelly Kwiatkouski specifically for beginners. It includes sequences of 35 yoga postures that stretch & strengthen every area of the body necessary to balance & restore all systems to optimal health. Hot House Yoga Beginners Flow class is recommended for everyone, from first day beginners to advanced students.
what to expect:
The magic of this class is it combines our vinyasa flow, core, and yin classes all together. Beginner Flow yoga begins with Surya Namaskar A (sun salutations) that will warm up the entire physical body and incorporate breath with movement. The sequencing that follows includes forward folds, twists, standing postures, balancing postures, core and backbends. Blocks, straps, and modifications are included in this class for further assistance as well as hands on adjustments by YA certified yoga teachers.
CORE FLOW YOGA (strengthening)
Come fire up your center with fluid core work, the perfect complement to any yoga practice. Expect to play hard, sweat and build strength without the endless crunches or sit-ups. Instead, fluid, dynamic movement includes mat work and yoga poses that will leave you feeling refreshed, in touch with your breath, and feeling strong. Practice Core Flow regularly and you will notice more tone in your entire body, as well as, improvements in range of motion, flexibility, circulation, posture, and abdominal strength – plus a decrease in back, neck and join pain!
GENTLE YOGA (1 hour, no heat)
Gentle yoga is gentle in its approach and less strenuous than other yoga classes. Perfect for those who cannot meet the demands of physically straining exercises and need to explore postures slowly and carefully. This class is useful for people who are recovering from an injury, women who are pregnant, seniors, those new to the practice of yoga, those who are looking for a more relaxed and laid back workout or those who are looking to develop their overall flexibility.
Modifications of the yoga poses are provided when appropriate, making each pose accessible to everyone. Blocks, the wall or chairs might be used for support. Each class incorporates standing poses, balancing poses, backbends, forward bends and twists specifically sequenced to develop strength, energy and balance.
Each class opens with a breathing technique to encourage the students to develop a relationship with their own breath, to help restore balance and to bring deep relaxation to the body and the mind.
This class is a one hour and not heated.
Gifted to Shelly Kwiatkouski in 2006 by her teacher Jimmy Barkan, this is a Vinyasa Flow practiced by candlelight with combination of sacred music from all over the world and various traditions including soothing chants and songs in many languages. The music and atmosphere is extremely powerful invoking a deep sense of inner peace while also being challenging as it is a flow class, which moves more quickly and has fewer rests. Sacred Music is based on the teacher’s individual expression and is taught in a “follow the leader” format with very little instruction. Students should be familiar with yoga since it is an advanced class; however, everyone is welcome!
Vinyasa means ‘to move with the breath.’ Some of the most popular yoga styles, including Ashtanga, Anusara and Power Yoga, are taught in a vinyasa style – meaning the series of poses flows purposefully with the breath. Hot House Yoga Vinyasa Flow classes blend ancient wisdom across many yogic traditions to form new expressions. These classes offer more variety in their sequencing than a traditional Ashtanga class, are slower paced than a Power Yoga class, and more vigorous than an Iyengar class. Vinyasa Flow is athletic in nature, combining hard work with deep relaxation to build strength, flexibility, concentration and balance.
YIN YOGA (stretch)
Designed by Shelly Kwiatkouski in 2006, the first part of class is dedicated to sun salutations to increase your heart rate, calm the mind, and relax the body, so you can release the muscles. Yin yoga class is a powerful practice which targets tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. Each posture during a Yin yoga class is held for several minutes at a time to encourage the slow and safe opening of connective tissues. This leaves the yogi with an overall feeling of lightness, spaciousness, and peace.
A Yin yoga class is the perfect antidote to stress and a great counter balance to more active styles of yoga. Yin yoga classes involve a relaxed practice of floor postures that are held from 3-5 minutes at a time. In a 75-minute Yin yoga class, you can expect to do an average of 10 poses.
We believe that yoga is a vital tool in physical and mental health, and that active parenting requires optimal health! We recognize that cost is an ever-pressing issue when it comes to childcare, and that is why we are offering free child care during 9:00a.m. classes Monday thru Thursday. Please bring the kids fed, changed and with favorite toys that might help soothe or entertain them while you get some time on your mat! There will be a children's movie playing at this time for entertainment. If your child is not able to calm down after 10-15 minutes, we may come get you out of class (although try to avoid this as much as we can…we understand you need your zen!).
* Parents must remain on-site for the duration of childcare.
* Children must be in good health to attend.
* Our childcare space is welcoming of all chidren between the ages of 12 months and 13 years. Please note, our staff is not trained to work with special needs. If your child's care requires skills or knowledge beyond the capabilities of our providers, we may ask you to pursue other childcare arrangements during class.
